The art of designing store layouts to optimize the shopping experience has a lot to do with creativeness and authenticity, with some of the best strategies that can be applied, regardless of the size of a premises. Colour blocking has been a daring and transformative trend since Piet Mondrian’s early 1900s debut of neoclassicism. He is known for being one of the pioneers of 20th-century abstract art.
Piet Mondrian’s work of art serves as the backdrop and inspiration for George’s window scheme for OKA in 2013. Highlighting an array of new products in a geographic three-dimensional version of Piet’s art by painting an abstract grid on the window backdrops. Simple, primary colours act as a background and thick, black lines create a concept that is aesthetically effective. The products were placed within frames to create a joyful, immersive window display.

Visual merchandising is, of course, all about enticing into the store as many customers as possible, transforming passers-by into potential customers who willing part with their hard-earned cash. Not only it is effective in terms of increasing sales, but it also develops a strong relationship between the customer and the store as a “spokesman” for the entire brand.
Art has always played an enormous role in this entire process of visually displaying merchandise.
